This is a one day, intensive workshop intended to introduce teachers to several giant puppet designs, and to leave them with the tools to then teach others how to make them. Up to thirty participants learn how to create various cardboard armatures, build newspaper sculpture base, and paper mache it. Examples of giant puppets that can be started are Chinese style dragons, backpack puppets, small riding horses, flying birds, and pole puppets. Participants are also presented with written materials which illustrate how to make the costumes and bodies for the faces they create. This workshop is one full day, for adults only, and requires two puppeteers.
